EYFS/KS1/KS2 Teacher with SEN experience

Park House School, Thorney, an independent specialist school for children and young people who have special educational needs related to their social interaction and communication difficulties, is seeking to appoint a qualified teacher with experience of working with children who are developmentally working within the EYFS, KS1 and lower KS2 levels.

Park House School is a small independent school committed to working through a therapeutic curriculum experience to enable children and young people to learn to accept and manage their social and communication difficulties as well as to achieve at an academic level appropriate to their developmental level.  All 23 pupils at the school aged between 6 and 19 have an EHCP and a diagnosis on the Autistic Spectrum.

Teaching staff and qualified OT, SALT and Psychology staff work together with a large team of Keyworkers to develop a personalised curriculum experience appropriate to the needs and interests of each child.  Timetables are dynamic and not constrained by the requirements of the National Curriculum.  Young people are encouraged to achieve as highly as they are able to without the pressure of external examinations and assessments.  Those children able to go on to take formal qualifications are enabled to do so.  The attainment levels within the school range from lower P levels to GCSE.

  • An enthusiastic and committed qualified teacher, who is able to look beyond surface presentations and work in a multi-disciplinary team
  • a teacher ideally with experience within the EYFS, KS1 and/or lower KS2 age ranges
  • a teacher with a commitment to child focused development
  • a teacher who ideally has experience of working with children with autism and additional emotional, learning and behavioural needs

Park House School is a small independent school committed to working through a therapeutic curriculum experience to enable children and young people to learn to accept and manage their social and communication difficulties as well as to achieve at an academic level appropriate to their developmental level.  All 23 pupils at the school aged between 6 and 19 have an EHCP and a diagnosis on the Autistic Spectrum.

Teaching staff and a Therapy Team work together with a large team of Key workers to develop a personalised curriculum experience appropriate to the needs and interests of each child.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic and enthusiastic team, working closely with out S&LT and Psychology Assistant. We are looking for someone with experience working with children with Autism.

Applicants will be required to:

  • Engage with all of our co-hort of pupils across the Autistic Spectrum
  • Manage and co-ordinate individual plans for occupational therapy and activities
  • Provide 1:1 OT assessment and treatment
  • Ensure effective supervision to OT Assistant and keyworkers.
  • Develop close working relationships with fellow professional colleagues ensuring clinical practice is in line with Park House School policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards specifically regarding risk assessment.
  • Provide excellent oral and written communication and possess exceptional organisational skills

BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy together with HCPC registration is required and previous experience would be preferred. However a newly qualified individual with previous work experience may also fulfil the criteria.
